Christian Bookstores in Canada

Stock varies from shop to shop, but most Canadian Christian bookstores carry a recognisable core: Bibles in a range of translations and formats, study resources and commentaries, Christian books for adults, teens and children, and devotionals.

Beyond the books, expect music, cards and gifts, and — in many shops — church and Sunday-school supplies, from communion ware to curriculum. Smaller shops often specialise; a call ahead saves a trip, and most will order in a title they do not stock.

The obvious answer is the least interesting one. Yes, the money stays in your community and a local family keeps their business — but the real difference is the staff. Someone who has read the shelf can tell you which of four commentaries actually suits a first-time small-group leader, or what to give a grieving friend.

That kind of judgement does not survive a product listing page. It is also the first thing lost when independent shops close, and it does not come back.

Plenty of independent Canadian shops now sell online as well as on the shelf, and many will ship anywhere in the country. 7 Locals is not a store and sells nothing — each listing points you to the shop's own site, phone number and address, and you deal with them directly. If a shop near you does not ship, it will usually hold an order at the till.
